Stillwater Trio

A bottle, an urn, and a low bowl in soft matte white — calm shapes for loud rooms.

Stillwater Trio: three matte white ceramic vessels against a dark background

Overview

Less shape,
more presence

Mara Ellison pared this set down to outline and touch alone: tall bottle, middle urn, low bowl, all wrapped in a chalky matte that swallows glare instead of throwing it back.

Keep the three together as one composition, or split them across the house — every piece carries a shelf, mantel, or nightstand on its own.

The making

Same clay, three endings

All three start as identical two-kilo lumps. The split — a stretched neck, a squeezed belly — happens in the final minute on the wheel, when the walls turn thin enough to coax.

  • Thrown from identical clay weights for proportion
  • Burnished foot rings, left unglazed
  • Single-dip matte glaze, fired face-down
