Midnight Bud Vase
A pocket-sized black vase built around a single stem — small pot, outsized mood.
Overview
Little pot,
big attitude
Jonas Reid's bud vase shows how little clay it takes to hold a corner of a room. The slanted collar and satin-black surface gather light the way wet pavement does.
It asks for one stem only — a grass head, a single rose, a found twig — and turns that stem plus an ordinary shelf into a small exhibition.

The making
Sliced and reset
This one is assembled rather than spun. Jonas closes a thrown cylinder, slices it on a slant while leather-soft, and fuses the collar back crooked — the lean is construction, not ornament.
- Thrown closed, cut and re-joined off-axis
- Carved foot for a floating stance
- Watertight liner glaze inside
