Speckled Cup Quartet

Four freckled cups that slow down the morning brew — coffee as a small ceremony.

Speckled Cup Quartet: four iron-flecked stoneware cups on a shelf

Overview

Little cups,
slow mornings

Sofia Marchetti throws these from iron-heavy clay, and the kiln does the patterning: heat draws dark flecks up through the glaze so every cup carries its own scatter.

At 240 milliliters they land between espresso and mug, bellied to sit warm in the palm. They sell as fours — mornings taste better shared.

The making

The kiln holds the brush

These cups never meet a decorating tool. The freckles are geology: iron in the clay drifts up through a thin satin coat in the heat. Our job is just the right temperature, then stepping aside.

  • Undecorated — pattern comes from the clay itself
  • Unglazed exterior base for a soft grip
  • Every quartet matched for tone and weight
